Cool Paleontology Soap

If you loved the quirky R2-D2 coffee press, you’re going to love these educational soap bars created by Virginia-based company ThinkGeek. Each soap bar is modeled after the Earth’s four layers: the crust, the mantle, the outer core, and the inner core.

Each layer is made of different materials including pumice for the base and bentonite for the second layer so that each layer erodes at a different pace. The true surprise is when two plastic dinosaurs begin to emerge after the soap layers have weathered away.

While it should have been titled Paleontology Soap rather than Archeology Soap, ThinkGeek maintains a sense of humor over the debacle,  “Look: we get it. We goofed. We totally should have asked the vendor to name this ‘Paleontology Soap.’ If y’all dig the idea enough for us to make a second run, we promise we’ll fix it then,” wrote the company on their website.

Nonetheless, it makes an excellent gift for that dinosaur geek you know.
