It’s safe to say we never really know what actors go through when they attempt to give their very best to bring to life a character. Every now and then we get a little glimpse into what really happened behind the scenes of some of the most well-known movies. Here are some very unusual yet intriguing facts about some of our favorite flicks.
1. Gattaca (1997)
When Gattaca was first released, the marketing campaign used fake advertisements that said you could have your children genetically engineered. Thousands of people called in wishing to have this done.
2. Braveheart (1995)
Arguably the least accurate historical epic of all time!
3. Back to the Future (1985)
When Marty and his band are being judged at the auditions, the judge who stands up and says “You’re just too darn loud” is Huey Lewis. Lewis wrote the main songs “The Power of Love” and “Back in time”. The song Marty and his band are playing is a re-imagined version of “The Power of Love”.
4. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001)
The inscription on the Mirror of Erised says: “Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi”. This is “I show not your face but your heart’s desire.” backwards.
5. Jurassic Park (1993)
Dr. Grant fashioning a functioning seat belt from two “female” end portions of seat belts directly foreshadows the all female dinosaurs suddenly able to breed. Life finds a way.
6. Interview with a Vampire (1994)
Actors who played Vampires hung upside down for up to 30 min in order to get the blood vessels in their face to bulge. Makeup artists would then trace them to get the translucent skin look.
7. Forrest Gump (1994)
According to Tom Hanks, when he is talking at the anti Vietnam rally in Washington and the microphone is unplugged, he says “Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. That’s all I have to say about that.”
