When the Mississippi River flooded back in 2011, it was regarded as one of the largest and the most damaging floods in the United States. Thousands of homes had to be evacuated due to flood waters that reached between 20 and 30 feet deep. However, some homeowners decided not to leave, but instead take matters into their own hands by building dykes around their homes.
