Russian amateur photographer Alexey Kljatov has managed to capture unearthly pictures of snowflakes via Cold War-era photography gear and duct tape. Kljatov proves that stunning imagery can actually be captured with what most people would consider trash.
He used the max optical zoom of his Powershot and focused it on the surface of an antique Helios 44M-5 lens salvaged from a Soviet-era Zenit camera. Once that was set into gear he locked down the setup using a wooden board, screws, a black plastic bag, and plenty of duct tape to name a few. All he uses to capture these flakes is literally all of the items you’d find in the garbage.
